“EL FARO” INTERPRETATION CENTER
El Rompido
The El Faro Interpretation Center joins the municipality's efforts to establish itself as a tourist destination in the region, offering a new attraction that enriches the cultural offerings and reinforces the commitment to the preservation and dissemination of the local historical heritage.
The launch of this center represents the culmination of a project that addresses a cultural need that complements our municipality's tourism offerings and is forward-looking, aligned with the principles of sustainability, environmental appreciation, and the promotion of environmentally responsible tourism.
It is a flexible building that blends tradition and innovation, capable of hosting an exhibition that uses both traditional media and new technologies, all in a privileged location, overlooking the town and the Natural Park."
It dynamically presents the history of fishing in the municipality of Cartaya, while promoting the rational and sustainable use of fishing areas.
The exhibition is a major cultural and tourist attraction for visitors to the coastal town, where they can admire the lens of the old lighthouse, located in the central hall, along with panels detailing the watchtowers in the province of Huelva, as well as a broad display of the rich natural heritage of the area in which it is located.
In the various rooms, visitors will find abundant information and images about the Marismas del Río Piedras y Flecha de El Rompido Natural Park, its wetlands, and its birds, highlighting its status as a SPA (Special Bird Protection Area). There is also a room dedicated to the Cartaya pine forest and numerous elements about the coastal area's connection to fishing, as well as a children's entertainment area and interactive totems to make the visit more fun.
